The small print
Frequently Asked Questions
A handful of questions we're often asked. If yours isn't here, do write to us.
What's inside the box?
One hand-picked mystery novel (wrapped, so the title stays a surprise), an original Effie & Co. bookmark painted by our founder, a small-batch candle, a printed playlist card with a QR code to a curated Spotify list, and a handful of seasonal extras.
Can I choose the book?
No — that's the adventure. You choose the world (romance, fantasy, thriller, etc.) and we choose the book within it. If you'd like to avoid a specific title or author, pop a note at checkout and we'll do our best.
Is it a subscription?
Not yet. Each box is a one-off purchase. We're working on a seasonal subscription and will announce it to the list first.
How is the book chosen?
By hand, by Elise, our founder. She reads widely and chooses titles she genuinely loves — a mix of new discoveries and quiet classics.
Can I gift a box?
Yes. Add a gift note at checkout and we'll handwrite it onto a card before wrapping. The recipient won't see any pricing.
